Celebrating 100 years of “Polymer Science, Since Prof. Herman Staudinger’s Pioneering Macromolecular Hypothesis”
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of polymer science will provide an unparalleled opportunity to highlight the continuous scientific discovery in promoting polymer science and laying the foundation to deal withpresent challenges and enabling future solutions. This year´s conference will focus on
“ 100 YEARS OF POLYMERSCIENCE – FROM PAST TO FUTURE”

Background theme & objectives
“Greetings and best wishes from School of Energy Materials (SEM), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India, and Gdansk University of Technology, Gdansk, Poland ”
We are glad to write to you that we are organizing “100 YEARS OF POLYMERSCIENCE – FROM PAST TO FUTURE” an International web conference at Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Kerala, India. The international conference on “100 years of Polymer Science – from Past to Future” will focus on the foundation of macromolecular science, the dynamics of the growth over 100 years, the present challenges, new opportunities and future solutions. We are delighted that many internationally renowned speakers have already accepted our invitation for the conference. As a special highlight, a lecture dedicated to Prof. Hermann Staudinger and his life will allow the participants to have a look into the early days of polymer science. Finally, a future forum will be organized in order to discuss current and future challenges in the field and to address possible solutions. The field of macromolecular science will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020. Within this century, polymers have greatly changed human lives, based on the pioneering macromolecular hypothesis of Prof. Hermann Staudinger. Innovations in the synthesis and characterization of many different classes of polymers have been accompanied by an in-depth understanding of the behaviour of polymers in solution and in bulk. Even today the field is still growing, and numerous scientific key developments are emerging. New application areas are being generated and industrial products continuously improved. On the other hand, there are also pressing challenges for current polymer science, including issues related to recycling and the eventual fate of polymer materials, as well as renewability and waste reduction. Pending key issues of mankind may profit from polymer based solutions in the future, such as energy storage and conversion, new therapies for diseases, and even approaches to a circular economy. The Mission of this event is to recognize the importance of macromolecular science and the advances in research for sustainable development for the benefit of mankind; to stress that macromolecular science is widely used in vital spheres of scientific knowledge such as chemistry, physics, engineering and biology, and to highlight the continuous nature of scientific discovery.

Brain Storming Discussion Meeting On Joint Projects and Collaborations (HORIZON 2020)
During the conference there will be a brain storming web discussion meeting in order to submit a joint project proposals to European Union under the “HORIZON 2020” programme for funding between India, Europe and Rest of the world. We will also discuss other bilateral research progrmmes between DST, UGC, INSA and DBT of India and Rest of the world.
Please note that DST of India has signed bilateral agreement with almost all the countries in the globe. These include DST-NSF, DST-DAAD, DST-DFG, DST-KBN, Indo-French (CEFIPRA), DST-NSF, DST- Australia, etc etc. This conference will act as a good platform to find partners for international research collaborations.
